0 Carotenoids in Diet from Fruits and Vegetables May Help Prevent or Delay the Onset of ALS

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS, is a devastating degenerative illness that incapacitates its victims in a manner similar to those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. At present, there is no known cure or effective treatment for the illness, believed to be the result of oxidative stress caused by decades of poor diet, stress, environmental toxins and poor physical conditioning. Researchers have now discovered that increased consumption of foods containing colorful carotenoids, particularly beta-carotene and lutein, may prevent or delay the onset of ALS.

Natural Sources of Fruits and Dark Leafy Vegetables Help Lower Risk of Developing ALS
ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurological disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord known to be responsible for the control of voluntary muscles. As the motor neurons degenerate, the muscles they control gradually weaken and waste away, leading to paralysis. A research team from the Harvard School of Public Health has published the results of their research in the Annals of Neurologythat builds on prior studies showing that carotenoids, the natural compounds that give fruits and vegetables their bright orange, red, or yellow colors, provide critical antioxidant support to help fight this devastating disease.

Scientists evaluated five large studies comprising more than one million participants to develop a basis for evaluation. Researchers reviewed food intake for the group and further broke consumption down to determine carotenoids eaten in the form of fruits and vegetables. Lead study author Dr. Alberto Ascherio noted “Understanding the impact of food consumption on ALS development is important. Our study is one of the largest to date to examine the role of dietary antioxidants in preventing ALS.”

Add Five to Nine Daily Servings of Fruits and Vegetables to Your Natural Food Diet
A total of 1093 cases of ALS were identified across the cohort of subjects. The team found that those with the highest intake of carotenoids from any source had the lowest risk of developing ALS. They also determined that individuals who consumed more carotenoids in their diets were more likely to exercise, have an advanced degree, have higher vitamin C consumption, and take vitamin C and E supplements. Participants with the highest dietary consumption of beta-carotene and lutein, most commonly found in dark green vegetables had a reduced risk of developing ALS.

Interestingly, the researchers found that diets high in lycopene, beta-cryptoxanthin, and vitamin C did not reduce disease incidence, and long-term vitamin C supplement intake was also not associated with lower ALS risk. Dr. Ascherio concluded“Our findings suggest that consuming carotenoid-rich foods may help prevent or delay the onset of ALS.” This study acts to support a large volume of prior works that reinforce the critical importance of a natural food diet consisting largely of fruits and vegetables to thwart diseases ranging from cancer and diabetes to Alzheimer’s disease and ALS.

0 Potential benefits of adherence to the Mediterranean diet on cognitive health

The purpose of this review was to update available knowledge on the relationship between adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MeDi) and cognitive decline, risk of dementia or Alzheimers Disease (AD), and to analyse the reasons for some inconsistent results across studies. The traditional MeDi has been recognised by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This dietary pattern is characterised by a high consumption of plant foods (i.e. vegetables, fruits, legumes and cereals), a high intake of olive oil as the main source of fat, a moderate intake of fish, low-to-moderate intake of dairy products and low consumption of meat and poultry, with wine consumed in low-to-moderate amounts during meals. Beyond the well-known association between higher adherence to the MeDi and lower risk of mortality, in particular from CVD and cancer, new data from large epidemiological studies suggest a relationship between MeDi adherence and cognitive decline or risk of dementia. However, some inconsistent results have been found as well, even in Mediterranean countries.

This review analyzes the reasons likely to explain these discrepancies, and proposes that most of these differences are due to variations in the methodology used to assess MeDi adherence. Adherents to the MeDi also have a healthier lifestyle in general, which can favourably affect cognition,

0 Healthy diet may help prevent recurrent heart attacks strokes

If you have cardiovascular disease, a heart-healthy diet may help protect you from recurrent heart attacks and strokes, according to new research in the American Heart Association journal Circulation.

"At times, patients dont think they need to follow a healthy diet since their medications have already lowered their blood pressure and cholesterol — that is wrong," said Mahshid Dehghan, Ph.D., study author and a nutritionist at the Population Health Research Institute, McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. "Dietary modification has benefits in addition to those seen with aspirin, angiotensin modulators, lipid-lowering agents and beta blockers."

For the study, 31,546 adults (average age 66.5) with cardiovascular disease or end organ damage were asked how often they consumed milk, vegetables, fruits, grains, fish, meat and poultry in the past 12 months. They were also asked about lifestyle choices such as alcohol consumption, smoking and exercise. Total scores were determined by daily fruits, vegetables, grains and milk consumed and the ratio of fish to meats consumed.

During a follow-up of nearly five years, participants experienced 5,190 cardiovascular events.

Researchers found those who ate a heart-healthy diet had a:

35 percent reduction in risk for cardiovascular death;
14 percent reduction in risk for new heart attacks;
28 percent reduction in risk for congestive heart failure; and
19 percent reduction in risk for stroke.
Food habits in different regions of the world varied considerably; however, a healthy diet was associated with prevention of recurrent cardiovascular disease throughout the world in countries with different economic levels, Dehghan said.

A diet rich in vegetables and fruits with a higher ratio of fish to meats appeared to be more beneficial for preventing heart disease than for preventing cancer, fractures or injury.

"Physicians should advise their high-risk patients to improve their diet and eat more vegetables, fruits, grains and fish," Dehghan said. "This could substantially reduce cardiovascular recurrence beyond drug therapy alone and save lives globally."

0 Diet and Lifestyle Determine Mid Life Weight and Disease Risk

(Article first published as Evolved Dietary Changes Lead to Weight Gain and Chronic Disease on Technorati.)
Our diet has changed radically over the past century and has become a significant cause of disease and illness as animal based foods account for a quarter of our calories. Processed foods which didn’t exist 100 years ago make up more than 60% of our present diet while naturally healthy vegetables and fruits provide less than 5% of our daily energy.

The food we eat influences our genes and is the leading cause of the rampant rise in heart disease, cancer, diabetes, dementia and obesity seen today. It’s possible to prevent and even reverse the damage from a poor dietary lifestyle by eating naturally high nutrient density foods.

A Diet of Processed Foods Leads to Illness
We need both calories and nutrients to survive. Modern food manufacturing techniques have removed most of the nutrition from the processed foods which represent such a significant portion of our calories. Vitamins, minerals and a host of essential nutrients provide the fuel we need to neutralize free radicals, facilitate DNA repair, counteract carcinogens and provide an effective immune response. After decades of nutrient deficiency our natural reserves are depleted and the stage is set for the onset of chronic disease often leading to a shortened lifespan.

Children Develop a Taste for Junk Food Early in Life
Many children are fed a diet of processed junk food from an early age and they quickly develop a taste for salty, sugared and fried foods. The instinct to eat vegetables, fruits and meats in their natural form is erased as their taste buds become satiated with a ined diet impregnated with artificially manufactured chemicals which are more pleasing to the taste.

An analysis reported in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association indicates that 800 of 2200 calories consumed by a typical child each day are attributable to solid fats and added sugar. These macronutrients are commonly known as `empty calories` as they provide scant nutrients and contribute to the growing childhood obesity problem. Children who acquire the taste for junk food early are much more likely to develop weight problems in later life and suffer from early onset chronic illness.

A Natural Food Diet Reverses Disease Progression
The vast majority of children and adults eat less than a quarter of the fruits and vegetables they need to provide minimal protection against disease. Include a minimum of five and optimally ten or more servings each day of fresh vegetables and leafy greens, berries, nuts, seeds, lean protein sources and protective monounsaturated fats. Prepare foods raw or minimally cooked and avoid overheating as this quickly removes nutrients. The human body has an amazing capacity to repair and reverse the effects of a poor diet. Health conscious people view natural foods as medicine which leads to a long and healthy life.

0 Southern diet could raise your risk of stroke

Eating Southern-style foods may be linked to a higher risk of stroke, according to research presented at the American Stroke Associations International Stroke Conference 2013.

In the first large-scale study on the relationship between Southern foods and stroke, researchers characterized a Southern diet by a high intake of foods such as fried chicken, fried fish, fried potatoes, bacon, ham, liver and gizzards, and sugary drinks such as sweet tea. In addition to being high in fat, fried foods tend to be heavily salted.

"Weve got three major factors working together in the Southern-style diet to raise risks of cardiovascular disease: fatty foods are high in cholesterol, sugary drinks are linked to diabetes and salty foods lead to high blood pressure," said Suzanne Judd, Ph.D., M.P.H., lead researcher and a nutritional epidemiologist at the University of Alabama Birminghams biostatistics department.

Previous research has shown that Southerners are about 20 percent more likely to have a stroke than the rest of Americans.

Comparing the dietary habits of more than 20,000 black and white adults, researchers found:

- Stroke frequency was directly proportional to how much Southern food participants ate.
- People who ate Southern foods about six times a week had a 41 percent higher stroke risk compared to those who ate it about once a month.
- Eating a Southern diet accounted for 63 percent of the higher risk of stroke among African-Americans above that of their white counterparts.
- Those whose diets were highest in fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains (eaten about five times a week) had a 29 percent lower stroke risk than those whose diets were the lowest in these foods (eaten about three times a week).

The study raises red flags for African-Americans who are five times more likely to eat Southern foods than whites, Judd said. And first-time stroke risk among blacks is almost double that of whites, according to American Stroke Association statistics.

Participants from 48 states answered telephone questionnaires about what foods they eat as part of the ongoing Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) Study (begun in 2003). Participants were evenly divided between men and women, and the minimum age was 45.

Each person underwent an in-person medical assessment including height, weight and blood pressure measurements; an electrocardiogram; and a blood test. Every six months after, participants answered follow-up telephone questions about their stroke incidence, sleep habits and overall health.

Researchers designed a mathematical model to group foods commonly eaten together into 56 different categories. Each persons eating habits were scored based on the categories. The scores were further analyzed in relation to how often they had a stroke.

About two-thirds of the participants who ate the most Southern-style foods lived in the southeastern United States. But, no matter where they live, people eating a lot of Southern foods should be more aware of their risks of stroke, Judd said.

Healthcare providers should educate patients about nutrition earlier, and ask patients about what theyre eating, how much and how often, she said.

0 Low Glycemic Index Diet Vs High Cereal Fiber Diet

Which of these two diets - a low-glycemic-index (LGI) diet or a high-cereal-fiber (HCF) diet - do you think would produce the better blood sugar control?

Researchers from Toronto set out to answer that question. Their results were published in the December 17 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association:

Effect of a Low-Glycemic Index or a High-Cereal Fiber Diet on Type 2 Diabetes

Ill give you the answer up front: The low-glycemic-index diet was better, but only moderately.

The 210 participants with type 2 diabetes followed their respective diets for 6 months, at the end of which:

For those who followed the LGI diet:
  • HbA1c went down by 0.50 (from 7.14 to 6.64)
  • HDL went up by 1.7 mg/dl
For those who followed the HCF diet:
  • HbA1c went down by 0.18 (from 7.07 to 6.89)
  • HDL went down by 0.2 mg/dl (HDL is the good cholesterol, you want this to go up)

How Did The Diets Differ?

Low-Glycemic-Index Diet

"The following foods were emphasized: low-glycemic index breads (including pumpernickel, rye pita, and quinoa and flaxseed) and breakfast cereals (including Red River Cereal [hot cereal made of bulgur and flax], large flake oatmeal, oat bran, and Bran Buds [ready-to-eat cereal made of wheat bran and psyllium fiber]), pasta, parboiled rice, beans, peas, lentils, and nuts."

Fruit in the LGI diet leaned toward temperate: apples, pears, oranges, peaches, cherries, and berries.

High-Cereal-Fiber Diet

"Participants were advised to take the "brown" option (whole grain breads; whole grain breakfast cereals; brown rice; potatoes with skins; and whole wheat bread, crackers, and breakfast cereals)."

Fruit in the HCF diet leaned toward tropical: bananas, mangos, guavas, grapes, raisins, watermelon, and cantaloupe

Both Diets

Everyone was advised "to avoid foods such as pancakes, muffins, donuts, white buns, bagels, rolls, cookies, cakes, popcorn, French fries, and chips."

0 Developing a diet plan

Food is important to feed the body and invest in good overall health . Maybe sleep over breakfast , work through lunch , you skip meals or snacks gorge yourself with not too healthy . Stress and fatigue associated with long hours of training and planning efforts sporting activities can cause food to become a source of stress , rather than being one of the pleasures of life. Given the current culture of the rush, eat well might seem more difficult than ever.

To develop a good diet plan must take into account :
Eat three different food at every meal . The more variety of foods eat more vitamins , minerals and other nutrients will be consuming . Try to pick thirty-five different types of food each week , instead of the same ten or fifteen foods that can get currently consuming . You can do this not only eating bran flakes with banana, but different types of cereal , adding fruits- not just a turkey sandwich for lunch , but various types of bread and filling , not only lettuce in the salad , but lots of vegetables of different colors.
Choose foods in their natural state . Unprocessed foods and what they are minimally processed have more nutritional value and less sodium , trans fats and other unhealthy ingredients . For example , oranges instead of orange juice, wheat bread instead of white bread, boiled potatoes instead of fries.
Act with moderation. Instead of classifying a food as good or bad for your health , be moderate and try to follow a diet that provides between 80% and 90 % of food quality and 20 % or 10 % less nutritional richness . Thus, fries , soda , pizza , take place in a healthy diet, one must balance them with healthier alternatives during the day .

Although a well balanced diet is ideal for good nutrition , a diet must avoid linear, ie , banana , banana , banana , rice , rice , rice . Eating repeatedly makes life simple, but it can lead to improper diet and chronic fatigue.
When we go to develop a diet plan , diet must make a circle , in which two thirds is occupied by fruits, vegetables and whole grains , and one-third protein and foods rich in calcium.

I hope you will be helpful , comment and suggest . And do not forget to share !

0 Fast food diet linked to asthma and eczema severity in kids

Fast Food Diet Linked to Asthma and Eczema Severity in Kids, Large Study Finds

Eating three or more weekly servings of fast food is linked to the severity of allergic asthma, eczema, and rhinitis among children in the developed world, indicates a large international study published online in the respiratory journal Thorax.

The findings prompt the authors to suggest that a fast food diet may be contributing to the rise in these conditions, and if proved causal, could have huge implications for public health, given the popularity of these foodstuffs.

The authors base their findings on data from more than 319,000 13-14 year olds from 107 centres in 51 countries, and more than181,000 six to seven year olds from 64 centres in 31 countries.

All the participants were involved in the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC), which is a collaborative research project involving more than 100 countries and nearly two million children, making it the largest study of its kind.

The teens and the childrens parents were formally quizzed on whether they had symptoms of asthma (wheeze); rhinoconjunctivitis (which produces a runny or blocked nose accompanied by itchy and watery eyes); and eczema; and their weekly diet.

Questions focused particularly on the severity of symptoms over the preceding 12 months -- including frequency and interference with daily life and/or sleep patterns -- and certain types of food already linked to protective or damaging effects on health

These included meat, fish, fruits and vegetables, pulses, cereals, bread and pasta, rice, butter, margarine, nuts, potatoes, milk, eggs, and fast food/burgers. Consumption was categorised as never; occasionally; once or twice a week; and three or more times a week.

After taking account of factors likely to influence the results, the analysis showed that fast food was the only food type to show the same associations across both age groups, prompting the authors to suggest that "such consistency adds some weight to the possible causality of the relationship."

It was associated with current and severe symptoms of all three conditions among the teens -- across all centres in the participating countries, irrespective of gender or levels of affluence.

The pattern among children was less clear-cut, but a fast food diet was still associated with symptoms across all centres -- except for current eczema -- and poorer countries -- except for current and severe asthma.

And this difference might have to do with the fact that children have fewer options about their food choices, suggest the authors.

Three or more weekly servings were linked to a 39% increased risk of severe asthma among teens and a 27% increased risk among children, as well as to the severity of rhinitis and eczema, overall.

On the other hand, fruit seemed to be protective in both age groups across all centres for all three conditions among children -- both current and severe -- and for current and severe wheeze and rhinitis among the teens.

Eating three or more weekly portions was linked to a reduction in symptom severity of between 11% and 14% among teens and children, respectively.

The authors suggest that there are plausible explanations for the findings: fast food contains high levels of saturated and trans fatty acids, which are known to affect immunity, while fruit is rich in antioxidants and other beneficial compounds.

The authors emphasise that their results do not prove cause and effect, but they do warrant further investigation.

"If the associations between fast foods and the symptom prevalence of asthma, rhinoconjunctivitis and eczema is causal, then the findings have major public health significance owing to the rising consumption of fast foods globally," they conclude.

0 High Fiber Lo Carb Diet Lowers Risk of Inflammatory Diseases

Researchers from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center have published the result of a study showing that a diet rich in slowly digested carbohydrates, such as leafy green vegetables, legumes and other high-fiber foods, significantly reduces markers of inflammation associated with the onset of chronic disease. The work, reportedin The Journal of Nutrition, explains that a diet rich in high-fiber foods significantly improves insulin signaling and resistance that promote life-shortening diseases including cancer, cardiovascular, stroke and dementia.

Monitoring the glycemic-load of different foods lowers the risk of blood glucose spikes and also increases a hormone that helps regulate the metabolism of fat and sugar. Health minded individuals will want to ensure they eat between thirty and fifty grams of fiber from a variety of food sources each day to control systemic inflammation and lower disease risk.

Low Glycemic Diet Lowers Inflammatory Blood Marker by Nearly a Quarter
The random controlled study involved eighty healthy men and women selected from the Seattle, WA area. Half were considered to be of normal weight, and the other half were overweightor obese as measured on a standardized BMI scale. Researchers found that among overweight and obese study participants, a low-glycemic-load diet reduced a biomarker of inflammation called C-reactive protein by about 22 percent.

Other studies in the past have suggested a correlation between dietary carbohydrate and sugar consumption as measured by the glycemic index of foods and systemic inflammation. This research is important because the C-reactive protein is associated with an increased risk for many cancers as well as cardiovascular disease.

Lowering Blood Glucose Levels Increases Adiponectin to Guard Against Cancer and Diabetes
Dr. Marian Neuhouser, a member of the Cancer Prevention Program in the Public Health Sciences Division at the Hutchinson Center noted “Lowering inflammatory factors is important for reducing a broad range of health risks. Showing that a low-glycemic-load diet can improve health is important for the millions of Americans who are overweight or obese.”

Neuhouser and her team also found that increasing low glycemic load foods in the participants diet by just five percent resulted in increased blood levels of a protein hormone called adiponectin. The hormone is known to protect against a number of different cancer lines as well as metabolic disorders such as type-2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and hardening of the arteries.

Many health-minded people know the importance of avoiding processed carbohydrates and sugar-laden foods while increasing dietary fiber. Dr. Neuhouser concluded“Whenever possible, choose carbohydrates that are less likely to cause rapid spikes in blood glucose… these types of low-glycemic-load carbs include whole grains; legumes such as kidney beans, soy beans, pinto beans and lentils as well as fruits such as apples, oranges, grapefruit and pears.” This study provides another chapter to the growing body of research that demonstrates the importance of dietary choices to prevent heart disease, cancer, diabetes and most chronic illnesses.

0 DIET FOR BEFORE OR AFTER EXERCISE

Exercise for energy with endurance

Foods provide the gas to the body’s engine, and fluids provide the water to your body’s radiator. Without these crucial fuels and fluids, your body will have a hard time performing at its best.

Fuelling exercise requires quality carbohydrates, lean protein, heart-healthy fats, and fluids. Your muscles rely on carbohydrate foods like breads, cereals, pasta, rice, fruits, and vegetables for a quick energy source. Protein is needed to build and maintain muscles and for healthy blood cells. Blood cells deliver nutrients and oxygen to working muscles.

Importance of Drinking Liquid while exercise.
The best way to stay hydrated is to drink plenty of fluids with meals and drink about two cups (16 ounces) of water two hours before exercise. Monitor your hydration status through two simple measures:
Check the colour of

1.your urine. When youre hydrated, your urine will be a light straw colour.

2.Weigh yourself before and after exercise and replace lost weight with 2 cups of fluids for each pound lost.

Not only does being well hydrated improve your performance, it can save your life. Water acts as your body’s cooling system; without sufficient water during exercise your body temperature can reach dangerously high levels.

Sport drink and plain water is the best hydrated liquid.

Recreational athletes can drink water for hydration. But if youre exercising for more than 60 minutes in hot, humid conditions, sports drinks provide not only fluid, but carbohydrates and sodium. Sports drinks are also a good choice if you play team sports like soccer or football, especially when the temperature and humidity are high.  If you are a heavy sweater, a sports drink might be perable to water.
With so many sports drinks, bars, and more to choose from, how do you make the best choices?

A good sports drink contains 14-15 grams of carbohydrate in 8 ounces. It should also contain about 110 milligrams of sodium and 30 milligrams of potassium in the same volume. But if you are exercising to lose weight, stick to water or a "lighter" version of sports drinks with fewer carbs and calories.

Look for energy bars that contain about 5 grams of protein, with some carbohydrate (perably with more naturally occurring sugars) and very little fat. Many energy bars are just glorified, expensive candy bars, so remember that "energy" means calories and watch out for high-calorie bars. They are helpful for athletes on the go, so if you cant eat before a long tennis match, an energy bar can help.

Choose protein powders made from whey protein or milk proteins (milk protein contains two types of proteins, both whey and casein). Use them within 30 minutes after exercising to provide needed amino acids to muscles. For weight gain, use a protein drink as an evening snack.
Can eating a high-protein diet help bulk up muscles?

The only way to bulk up muscles is to hit the gym and perform progressive resistance exercises. Protein can help provide the raw material to build muscle, but the protein has to be pulled into muscles through exercise. Aim to eat a small amount of protein (10-20 grams, or about 2-3 ounces of lean meat, 2 cups of low-fat milk, or a scoop of most protein powders) after each bout of weight training to give your muscles the needed building blocks.
Why do you need to eat protein or drink protein shakes after exercising?

Muscles need protein for recovery and growth, and the best time to deliver protein appears to be right after exercise. Providing high-quality protein after exercise gives your muscles the fuel and the building blocks needed for both repair and for growth.

Protein shakes and powders carry a certain allure, but your muscles don’t care if the protein comes from a hard-boiled egg, glass of chocolate milk or whey protein shake.  Whatever you choose, more isn’t better -- only 10 to 20 grams of protein is needed to provide amino acids (the building blocks of protein) to muscles.

Is carbo loading a useful strategy for long-distance athletes?

Carbo loading, or stocking up on carbohydrates before a sporting event, has gone out of favor with most athletes.  Eating adequate carbohydrates during training provides muscles with all the glycogen (the storage form of carbohydrate) that they need.

Athletes who exercise for longer than two hours usually consume some form of carbohydrate during exercise (sports drinks, carbohydrate gels, or energy bars) to provide additional fuel. Carbohydrate loading (also called "muscle glycogen supercompensation") should only be considered for those performing very hard, continuous exercise that lasts for 90 minutes or more, and should be done under the supervision of a sports dietitian.

What are good, healthy snacks for kids during sport activities or practice?

When it is your turn to bring the snacks, keep it simple and healthy. Let’s face it; young kids don’t burn a lot of calories in a recreational weekly soccer game, so provide healthy snacks in small quantities. Orange or apple slices; peanut butter sandwiches cut into quarters; string cheese and whole-grain crackers; and trail mix made with whole-grain cereal, nuts, and dried fruit; along with fruit juice, are good choices.

Can you lose weight without having to exercise?

Yes, you can, but the best strategy is a combination of cutting calories and exercising.  Exercise has other benefits that can help with weight loss. It improves mood and self-esteem, as well as reduces risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

Exercise burns fewer calories than you might think. Walking 1 mile burns about 100 calories, and 1 pound of body fat is a storage depot for 3,500 calories. You’d have to walk 35 miles to lose 1 pound of fat.

What changes should you make to your diet if your goal is to lose fat?

If your goal is to lose weight and target fat, you need to follow the same kind of healthy diet as above, but be sure you get enough calories to fuel your physical activity. Cut back on ined, sugar-rich foods and beverages and high-fat and fried foods, and scale back your portions to gradually lose body fat.  A combination of exercise and a calorie-controlled diet will be the most effective way to promote fat loss.

0 5 Tricks to Overcome Temptation Diet In The Office

Diet program that has been running smoothly is often thwarted by a particular moment in the office. Although determined to remain disciplined diet, there are times when we can not refuse an invitation to a party with colleagues. How do I work around this? Here are 5 diet temptation that we often encounter in the office along with the solution:

1. Out to lunch

Invitation to lunch often makes us off eating a healthy lunch. The solution, specify the day when you bring lunch and eat outside when allowed. If necessary, make an appointment first. If dining out is really unavoidable, you can only chat with colleagues without reservation. If you feel hungry, choose foods that are low in fat and contain lots of vegetables. Select also a little portion.

2. Free food

Anyone who refused were given free food, such as buffet catering at meetings? If you know will get a free meal, let it be a lunch menu or dinner.
However, often we are so hungry eyes even though the stomach is not hungry. You should be able to tell the difference. If not hungry but want to eat, candy prevented by a strong sense of asking her. If necessary, brush your teeth so that you are lazy to eat again.

3. Homemade cakes colleague

Sometimes a co-worker brought homemade cookies to the office. If it is rejected, he would be offended. No one can force you to eat, let alone just because her uncomfortable. If the subtle rejection he insisted, lie a little. Says if you just eat the cake, so the cake from the co-workers will be eaten later tonight or tomorrow.

4.
Candy Containers

Containers filled candy that can make our diets fail. Looking at it can make your hands itch to pick it up. Hence, avoid places that provide the candy with a detour. Provide also a healthy snack such as dried or fresh fruit, nuts, whole-grain cereal, or soda with a little fresh fruit. That way, you can snack without worry.

5.
Sharing food

Sometimes, co-workers want to eat a snack or a tasty dessert only if no one wants to share with her. It is okay to indulge once in a while, remember that it should not be as long as excessive. However, if you do not want to eat, use the trick in point 3.

0 Mediterranean Diet Good for Heart

Mediterranean Diet Good for Heart | Want to far from heart disease? it could not hurt to try the Mediterranean diet. A mention of the other research done Mediterranean-style diet for three months can reduce the risk of heart disease by 15 percent.

The study, headed by Dr. Denis Lairon of the Faculty of Medicine Timone, Marseille, France said that the Mediterranean diet consists of the consumption of foods rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and olive oil and red meat in moderation can help reduce the risk of heart attack.

The results are recorded in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition examined the 212 respondents who rated men and women at risk of heart attack or a Mediterranean diet to choose low-fat diet for three months.

Mediterranean diet participants were instructed to eat fish four times a week and red meat once a week. Men are allowed to drink two glasses of red wine every day but only one glass for women.

Meanwhile, for the low-fat dieters are encouraged to eat meat from poultry products and stay away from pork, beef or other mammals, eat fish two or three times a week, away from animal products in saturated fat, eating vegetables and fruit, low fat dairy products and vegetable oils.

The researchers also found that eating habits are very influential in the two groups. All participants consumed fewer calories and more protein and carbohydrates, less fat and saturated fat consumption. Both groups showed significant results for the decrease in body mass index.

Meanwhile, participants who did the Mediterranean diet, noting positive results, with total cholesterol was down to 7.5 percent, 4.5 percent lower than the low-fat dieters. Based on this reduction, the researchers also noted the Mediterranean dieters experiencing heart disease risk reduction down to 15 percent low-fat dieters while only 9 percent.

0 Preventing Cervical Cancer with Diet

Preventing Cervical Cancer with Diet | Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that strikes women. These cancers form and spread in the organ that connects the vagina and uterus, or commonly called the cervix.

Cervical cancer is very dangerous. However, you can prevent cervical cancer with a good diet. Diet with foods and natural herbs. There is strong evidence that changes in a healthy diet can significantly reduce the risk of you fall prey to the "silent killer" is.

A study in the journal Cancer Research found that women who consumed fruits and vegetables in high numbers to fight against infection with HPV (human papillomavirus, cervical cancer-causing microorganisms) to get more significant results than those who do not do that.

Below are Preventing Cervical Cancer with Diet

1. Aloe Vera juice.
Aloe vera contains many vitamins and amino acids that help you in preventing liver toxicity may develop into a carcinogen. You can drink three cups of aloe vera juice every day, preferably 30 minutes before eating.

2. Avocado Fruit
Avocado is a fruit and powerful tool for preventing cervical cancer grows. In addition to hormone balance, avocado fruit contains phytochemicals. Phytochemical potential to destroy precancerous cells without damaging normal cells you.

0 Dos of Following a Glycemic Index Diet

* Do choose whole grains over processed whenever you can.
* Do enjoy as many fresh fruits and vegetables as you possibly can every day.
* Do look at the “whole picture” when choosing your food items.

Consider all of its characteristics.
* Do try to have at least one food from the low Glycemic Index list at

every meal.
* Do add vinegar or a no-fat vinaigrette dressing to your food

whenever possible since vinegar is acidic and lowers the food’s

Glycemic Index rating (because it slows down your digestion.)
* Do try as many foods as you can from the low Glycemic Index list.

You may be surprised to find some delicious choices that you have

never tried before.
* Do choose foods that are high in fiber. The higher the fiber the

longer it takes to digest, which will leave you feeling fuller longer

and keep your blood sugars at a steady level
for hours. Aim for between 26-35 grams of fiber per day!
* Do start the day with a great breakfast of low Glycemic Index foods.
* Do try to eat your meals at regular times and on a regular basis.
* Do be aware of the types of fats that you choose. While fat is a

necessary nutrient, some are better choices than others are.

Try to use fats that are better for your heart like olive oil and canola.
* Do eat a variety of good foods every day. Our bodies adjust to foods

and by eating differently all of the time it keeps our system “on its toes”

and in shape.
* Do look for “coarseness” in your food choices. Food that

hasn’t been over-processed will appear to have more texture and

will result in lower Glycemic Index numbers.
* Do plan your menus, shop with a list and buy plenty of fresh fruits

and vegetables when they are in season.
* Do invest in a large variety of herbs and seasonings and

experiment with them to add new and exciting flavors to your meals.
* Do look up new Glycemic Index recipes to try in order to keep

your meals interesting and fun.

0 Mediterania diet causes of pregnancy

For married couples, pregnancy is a tremendous boon. No wonder if couples are willing to do a variety of ways to achieve that goal. This echoed a study that found that women who undergo the Mediterranean diet can increase the chance of pregnancy up to three times.

Researchers believe a diet that involves a lot of monounsaturated fats (monounsaturated fats) such as from green fruit, olive oil, nuts, almonds and cashew nuts can help women to get pregnant as natural as possible.

Instead eat foods that contain saturated fats (saturated fats) such as dairy products and red meat can actually damage the fertility of women. High saturated fat intake has also been frequently associated with low sperm counts.

Dr. Jorge Chavarro and colleagues at the Harvard School of Public Health, the United States to observe how some types of fat intake may affect the success of the procedure in-vitro fertilization (IVF) or IVF in 147 women, particularly those in their 30s.

The result, researchers found that women who eat monounsaturated fats have the highest chances of becoming pregnant through IVF to three times higher than women who ate the least.

Conversely, women who ate the most saturated fat diet produce eggs two times less than those eating the least, whereas the number of such cells was the one who determines whether or not suitable for women who undergo the procedure concerned with the tube fertilization.

But Dr. Chavarro cautions that this study is relatively small and the findings need to be replicated in a larger scope before finally recommended to the prospective mother.

"The best fat profile you can find in the Mediterranean diet but we do not know for sure if this diet would be beneficial or harmful," said Dr. Chavarro.

0 Acai Berry Diet Exposed Miracle Diet or Scam

Eva investigates the Acai Berry diet to find out for herself if this super diet works.
Acai berries are the latest weight loss fad. These so called Super Foods that you take as a supplement to lose weight have been getting a lot of international attention. And like you have probably already seen; they are all over the internet in blogs and success stories of people who have apparently used the pills and lost a ton of weight. But we here at Channel 5 are a little skeptical and aren‘t sure that we‘ve seen any real proof that these pills work for weight loss. So we decided to put these products to the test. What better way to find out the truth than to conduct our own study? To get started, I volunteered to be the guinea pig. I applied for a free trial of the Acai Max Cleanse + Revivatox Cleanse. While there are tons of Acai berry ads online, Acai Max Cleanse is one of the most credible and trustworthy suppliers on the market. It included the free trial of the product and it did not try to fool me into agreeing to additional hidden offers. Another reason why I chose Acai Max Cleanse with Revivatox Cleanse is because it is the most concentrated and purest acai products on the market. This would give me the most accurate results for my test. Here is what Acai Max Cleanse claimed on their website...

  •  Accelerates Fat Loss
  • 4 Times More Weight Loss Than Diet And Exercise
  • Boosts Energy
  • Rich in Antioxidants
We were pretty skeptical, but wanted to find out for ourselves if this product could actually do everything that it claimed. Most of the success stories talk about combining acai berry with colon cleansing products to achieve maximum weight loss. I decided to do the same. The idea behind combining the products is that while the Acai Berry encourages weight loss and increases energy, the colon cleanse helps rid your body of toxins and allows your body to work and burn calories more efficiently. I chose Revivatox Cleanse to test. Here is what Revivatox Cleanse claimed on their website...
  • Helps Eliminate Bad Toxins that have Built Up Over the Years
  • Removes ‘Sludge‘ from the Walls of the Colon
  • Helps Get Rid of Gas and Bloating
  • Helps to Regulate the Metabolism
And the Revivatox Cleanse, like the Acai Berry, had a free bottle with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and had no hidden offers. Putting Acai to the Test Both the Acai Max Cleanse and Revivatox Cleanse arrived within 4 days of having placed my order online for the bottles. The bottles I received held a month‘s worth of pills which worked out perfect as I was to follow the supplement routine for 4 weeks time and document my progress throughout. My Test 4 Week Acai Berry Diet: Acai Max Cleanse + Revivatox Cleanse
  • Take one Acai Max Cleanse pill per day
  • Take one Revivatox Cleanse pill per day
My Results Week One After one week on the diet using both products I was surprised at the dramatic results. My energy level was up, and I wasn‘t even hungry, an apparent side effect of the Acai Berry and Revivatox Cleanse which curbs the appetite. I honestly felt fantastic. And I didn‘t even change anything about my daily routine. On day 7 I got on the scale and couldn‘t believe my eyes. I had lost 9 lbs. But I still wasn‘t convinced as they say you lose a lot of water at the beginning of any diet. I wanted to wait and see the results in the upcoming weeks. But it sure was looking up! I now weighed under 140 lbs for the first time in years! Week Two After two weeks of using both supplements, I started the week off with even more energy and was actually sleeping more soundly than before. I was no longer waking up during the night and tossing and turning because my body was actually able to relax (this is a result of getting rid of the toxins I think). Plus I still managed to lose another 7 lbs, putting me at an unbelievable 16 lbs of weight loss, in just 2 weeks. I must admit that I‘m starting to believe that this diet is more than just a gimmick. Week Three After 3 weeks all my doubts and skepticism had absolutely vanished! I am down, 2 full dress sizes, after losing another 6 lbs. And I still have a ton of energy. I no longer need that cat nap around 3pm in the afternoon! And I am even noticing that my stomach is digesting food so much better. No bloating or embarrassing gas after I eat!! Week Four After the fourth week, my final results were shocking. I lost an unbelievable 25 lbs since starting the Acai Max Cleanse and Revivatox Cleanse diet! Actually everyone at Channel 5 is kicking themselves for not having volunteered to be the guinea pig. Using the Acai Max Cleanse and Revivatox Cleanse in week 4 I lost 3 more lbs. But to be honest I really didn‘t have much more than that left to lose. Given the results and the added health benefits I will continue to use the products indefinitely! I couldn‘t be any happier with the results. I Lost 25 lbs in 4 Weeks, No Special Diet, No Intense Exercise
