Pears are good to eat in taste, pears having good taste and look like an apple, but pears taste is little bit different than apples. Pears also have useful amounts of folate, potassium, and iron, as well as pectin (a soluble fiber that helps control blood cholesterol levels) and cellulose (an insoluble fiber that promotes normal bowel function).

While there are hundreds of varieties of pears in the United States, four types predominate, Anjou, a juicy, oval shaped winter pear that has a yellowish green skin, Bartlett, a summer pear that is eaten fresh or canned, bosky, which has a slender neck and a firm, cinchy texture that makes it ideal for baking and poaching, and Co mice, a green skinned variety that is considered the sweetest and tastiest winter pear.
